Surly Steamroller-Fixed Gear!
by RL PolicarI know there are a brave bunch of commuters that use a Fixed Gear bike to ride everyday to work. I know I am not one of them. For those of you that do, AMEN to that!
Surly Bikes makes a really sweet fixie called the Steamroller. Here’s a little sample on how they describe the bike:
“A steamroller has the ability to flatten anything in its path, which is exactly how you’ll feel the first time you take our Surly™ Steamroller fixed-gear for a twirl. Unstoppable. Euphoric. Happy. If you haven’t ridden fixed before you might even feel a little bit scared.”

Maybe i’m an idiot but i just need to know. What exactly is a fixed gear? how does it differ from a singlespeed and all the rest. i’m curious.
