I am 5?7?, 180 lbs. Yes I have gained 6lbs since my last product review” I ride a Giant Warp DS 2 for trail riding and a Giant Cypress LE for my daily commute. I also own a 7 speed Gary Fisher Tarpon. I am mainly a XC rider that will occasionally have too much fun on my Warp. I am also a bike commuter traveling 10-20 miles each way.
My current options for testing any products are at the following trails and streets of Southern California: Fullerton Loop, Panorama, Turnbull Canyon, Aliso Woods which consists of: Woods Canyon, Rockit, Cholla, Meadows, Lynx and Top of the World. When testing products for commuting, my route usually will take me through the following streets: Bastanchury, St. College, Chapman Ave, Main St. and Jamboree Rd.
In the past year I’ve participated in riding events such as the LA Bike Tour, 04 and 05, Southridge Spring Fling and the Mt. Sac Fat Tire Classic. I am planning on participating in more events when the opportunity comes.
Kryptonite Evolution Mini.
First Impressions and Comments:
I thought this little lock was cute. It reminded me of the Heinken Keg Can. It also reminded me of Dr. Evil and Mini-Me.
Other than that, the lock, on first impression looked sturdy enough. The steel construction looked and felt solid. It wasn’t too heavy either.
No options at all other than the option mounting the lock on any part of your bike. I’ve mounted my on the rear triangle right below the left side of the V-brake.
-Easy to Mount
-Vinyl Coating Protects my bike
-Multiple Keys (5 in total)
-Small, the U part only allows me to lock my frame.
-Rattles during transport (while mounted to my bike)
I thought that his lock wasn’t too bad. It was a bit small, but then again you can always use an additional cable to wrap your tires around. I liked the mounting, you can put it on any part of your bike. I also liked the think vinyl coating to protect my paint job.
I was told that I needed to make sure that it passes the “Bic Pen” test before using it. But luckily this model is a new one where it uses a different key set and tumbler to prevent theft by Bic.
