Driving faulted for air pollution
by RL PolicarMONTPELIER — Many Vermonters dream of that house on a few acres in the country, but a new report points to a big downside: longer commutes to work and more emissions of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.
“Transportation is the leading source of global warming emissions in Vermont and the trips Vermonters make to and from work are a major contributor to the problem,” says the report, “Driving Global Warming: Commuting in Vermont and its Contribution to Global Warming,” issued Monday by the Vermont Public Interest Research Group.
