First Commute of the year

by Richard Masoner

Now that I have a commitment to ride the Livestrong Ride, I decided to dust my trusty Kona Smoke, slap on the Inertia Commuter Pannier, install the PrincentonTec lights, put on my new shorts from Hoss MTB and rode to work today. Every single time that I re-start commuting to work, I always ask myself why the heck I don’t do it more often.

Here is what I was thinking during my ride:

As I watched the news yesterday, it was hard to miss the President’s State of the Union ‘highlights’. For once, he said something that was true: Our nation is addicted to oil. Then again, tell us something we don’t know. I commute by bike to get in shape, save money on gas and for the fun of it; and now I will be doing a political statement. I will be riding my bike to work because I don’t want to contribute to the addiction.

Congratulations! I am starting to do the same thing in a couple of days. Your web site is encouraging, hope that you keep it up (the bike commute and the blogging!)
