Some professors are willing to take life lying down. But only if they are simultaneously going 15 mph.

OU professors Paul Minnis and Dan Snell commute to and from campus on their recumbent bicycles, drawing the attention of students as they fly past. Both professors are active in efforts to improve the lives of bicyclists in Norman.

A recumbent bicycle is one that places riders in a supine position, meaning the rider’s legs are stretched in front of them parallel to the ground.

Minnis, anthropology professor, owns four recumbent bicycles of varying styles. He admits the bikes can look strange to those who aren’t used to them.
