Things to come from Ibex

by RL Policar
On the road bike side….

For 2006 the IBEX road line-up will see several changes. Most notably, we’ll have a new Classic model, the Classic 5600, equipped with Shimano’s fantastic new 105 group and we’ll have several early-launch 2007′s ready by the end of July. The early 2007′s will include new 30-speed Aprisa Elite and Corrida models, the Aprisa Elite 6600 and Corrida Ulitamte 7.7 (flat-bar roadbike). Other notable changes for 2006 include carbon seatposts for the Classic 4400 (and 5600), the Corrida LT 4.4 (and Ultimate 7.7), as well as on our spectaular Vantage JayVee 650c wheeled kid’s roadbike (also great for small adults).

Classic Series: Our Classic series expands to include a new Classic 5600 model that sports Shimano’s new 10-speed 105 groupo (for 30-speeds total with it’s TruVativ Elita SL triple crankset) as well as Shimano R550 wheels. Both the 5600 and our returning Classic 4400 will feature carbon forks and seatposts for 2006.

Aprisa Series: For 2006 our Aprisa Team Pro will continue in current, but excellent, form and a new 2007 Dura-Ace equipped Aprisa Team Ace is arriving in late July. The Aprisa Team Ace will feature full Dura-Ace including a Shimano WH-7800 wheelset along with extensive use of carbon for fork, steerer, chainstays, seatstays, seatpost, handlebar and stem wrap. The Aprisa Elites take a hiatus for 2006 with the new 2007 Aprisa Elite 6600 being introduced in July (the former Aprisa 5500 is replaced with the new Classic 5600). The 6600 will boast and all new frame with double-butted aluminum and curved carbon seatstays, along with a 30-speed Ultegra10 drivetrain, Neuvation M28 Aero wheels and Ritchey Pro cockpit.

X-Ray Series: Our highly sought-after X-Ray Cyclocross bikes will now include an X-Ray Sport model with Tiagra/Sora drivetrain selling for under $600. Our X-Ray Race model gets Shimano’s new 10-speed 105 groupo and Cane Creek Cross-Top levers along with its traditionally fine mix of components. There will actually be no 2006 X-Rays as we await the early launch of 2007′s this July.

Corrida Series: Our Corrida flat-bar roadbike series will be available only on a limited basis for 2006 with the new 2007 Corridas scheduled for early-launch in July of this year. The 2007′s will included a revised Corrida Ultimate with a 30-speed Shimano R770 drivetrain, Avid BB7 road disc brakes and Sun’s new 700c DS2 rims designed especially for road bikes with disc brakes.

The mountain bike line has some exciting things happening, like a NEW bike!

Asta Series: Our new full-suspension Asta series focuses on XC, trail and lightweight All-Mountain. With 4″ of rear travel, its 4-bar frame is an all new design. Three model levels will be offered with LX Rapidfire, LX Dual-Control and XT Dual-Control forming the basis of each drivetrain. The Rapidfire equipped Comp version will be a real bargain selling for less than $1,000 while the Expert and Pro models step-up to Dual-Control. The Asta Expert features Manitou Black Platinum fork and Radium rear shock… both with remote lock-out. The top of the line Asta Pro runs XT/XTR in Dual-Control format and adds Manitou’s new R-7 Platinum Fork and Type-S SR rear shock… both with SPV.

Zone FR-1: Zone FR-1 is a hard-core Freerider’s dream combining 7″ of travel, front and rear, with an LX/XT drivetrain, TruVativ Hussefeldt crank with Rock Guard, 8″ Hayes HD hydraulic disc brakes and a Manitou Metel PR rear shock. The Zone will now feature a Manitou Sherman Slider dual-crown freeride fork with SPV and 170mm of travel, the Zone FR-1 is expected to sell for about $1800, but we’re running an early-launch special at $1500… hard to beat!
