Dude! I own 3 different sets of Crank Bros. I have the Quattro on my road bike, the Candy SL on my Xootr Swift, and the Eggbeaters C on the X-ray. They are the easiest pedals to clip in and out of. I would recommend the Candy SL because the have a small platform, they are also cheaper than the Quattro's.

I have a hard time riding platform pedals - I'm so used to pulling against the clip, especially on hills. I'd probably love clipless for long rides, but I also depend on being able to kick out quickly. I'm tempted by Crank Bros. Eggbeaters - any input on those?

I ride with dual platform pedals: 1 side is SPD and the other side is flat. For those situations where traffic gets gnarly, I switch to the flat platform, otherwise I'm clipped in.

Clipless aren't so bad. I can't see myself going back to regular shoes. Basically, if you're comfy with out clipless pedals and shoes, then stick to it. Its just another expense

Thanks for the recomendations! I don't want to have to buy new shoes to ride clipless, and I heard that clips were dangerous.. so these sound like a good middle ground!
