RL sent over a pair of Specialized clip-less shoes that needed repair. The fastener was worn out and started to split. We have sewing machines at the shop to repair parachutes so I decided to try to repair the damaged strap. All it took was a scrap piece of Velcro and black thread. Within ten minutes the repair was done. Nothing like Martha Stewart but it works. If a sewing machine is not accessible, a repair like this could be done by hand.

Dang that’s pretty good!

[...] Being a Parachute Rigger in the Army, we were trained in three different areas of expertise: Parachute Packing, Aerial Delivery (airdrop anything that could fit in a plane), and Parachute Maintenance. Repairing parachutes is where I learned how to sew. And since we have the machines here, I might as well use them. I’ve also done some cost effective repairs in the past. // Used for showing and hiding user information in the comment form function ShowUtils() { document.getElementById(“authorinfo”).style.display = “”; document.getElementById(“showinfo”).style.display = “none”; document.getElementById(“hideinfo”).style.display = “”; } function HideUtils() { document.getElementById(“authorinfo”).style.display = “none”; document.getElementById(“showinfo”).style.display = “”; document.getElementById(“hideinfo”).style.display = “none”; } [...]
