Gas Prices Declining

by RL Policar

Drivers lined up to fill up Saturday at local gas stations, where prices were as low as $2.28 a gallon.

That was the price about 9 p.m. Saturday at the Super Duper station at 5208 Broadway in Merrillville, according to Garygasprices.com.

The Speedway station on the corner of Broadway and 93rd Avenue in Merrillville also was attracting many motorists with its price of $2.31 a gallon.

The Marathon station on U.S. 6 in Valparaiso was selling its regular unleaded gas for $2.49 a gallon Saturday.

Drivers were filling up even though their tank wasn’t running low so they could get in on the low prices.

“I have to stop because I’m afraid I’ll miss out when the price is low,” Munster resident George Francis said.
