Boulder Bike Summit

by Richard Masoner

The city of Boulder, Colorado is inviting area cyclists to the Boulder Bike Summit on Friday, September 7 at the Boulder Outlook Hotel. In the past twenty years, Boulder has made tremendous progress in becoming bicycle-friendly. Now it’s time to craft a vision for the next twenty years. Boulder’s Bike Summit is an initiative of the Boulder City Council with support and participation by cycling interests throughout the community.

The Boulder Bike Summit is a high-level, fast-paced brainstorming session on how to make Boulder a great place for bicycling. The city wants to involve leaders of Boulder’s bicycle community in a half day discussion to develop a vision for bicycling in Boulder twenty years from now. At the Bike Summit, these leaders will work together to develop ideas to get more people on bikes more often.

The city invites leaders from all sectors of the community. Bicycling-related businesses, clubs and organizations are invited to send representatives. So are neighborhood groups, schools and any agencies interested in making bicycling better.

Bike Summit Rules:

  • No power points or prepared materials. Prepared materials will be available on a Bike Summit web site. Attendees should familiarize themselves with these materials prior to the event.
  • No panels. Everyone is a participant and needs to be prepared to talk, listen, and commit to working on visions, issues and agendas that arise from the Summit.

Please RSVP by August 31 to Sue Prant at prants (at) bouldercolorado.gov or call 303-441-1879. If you indicate that you will attend, please make every effort to be there. Space is limited to 100 attendees maximum.

Bike Summit sponsors include the City of Boulder, Colorado; GO Boulder; the Bikes Belong Coalition; and DMJM Harris | AECOM.

Thanks, that sounds like a great event.

Do you have a URL for the website mentioned. Also, I tried sending an RSVP to the email listed and it was returned saying it was not a valid address. (and yes I substituted out the (at) :) )

could it be bouldercolordao.gov should be bouldercolorado.gov?

  3. Hey Anne,

In the email address listed, they also spelled Colorado as “Colordao” so make sure you change it to prants(AT)bouldercolorado.gov and replace the atThat should work.

  4. Anne says:

sheesh, I swear I checked the spelling a dozen times.
    thanks guys. :)

  5. Fritz says:

SOrry about the difficulty with the mispledding, folks. I’ve corrected the email address.

Actually, I did it to, umm, confuse spammers. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
