Awesome...It looks like 08 is going to be a great year to be a bike commuter...

I agree with Ghost Rider on this one, if it's a commuter bike, put all the darn things a commuter will need on the thing...especially on the product photos. Otherwise, it's just another bike.

I would also wish the bigger manufacturers would catch on to front racks...I think they're going to be (are) a real hot item...in particular porteur type racks with a flatbed...something as pretty as Paul's but can hold more weight and is functional like the demo's on Velo-Orange....

How about a real zoot porteur bike inspired by what Parisian newspapers couriers used? That would be the bee's knees in my opinion...

I'd like to see more bike companies include fenders and a rack as STANDARD EQUIPMENT on the new range of "fast commuter"-format bikes. If a rider doesn't want or need them, they can be unbolted in a few minutes.

The way it is now is "spend X dollars on this cool, sleek new bike, and then spend X MORE dollars getting the necessary commuting gear to go with it" rather than "here is a great bike for X dollars that is ready to be put to work immediately for all your commuting needs".

I also wish more manufacturers included lowrider rack mounts on the forks. There are a few in this segment that do...the Trek Soho series and two-thirds of the Fisher Fast City bikes come to mind. I think the Marin commuters might have them, too.

Return of the the cross bike! In the 80's and early 90's I owned a couple of Schwinn cross bikes - Criss Cross and Cross Cut - but the format never really seemed to catch on. Thee seem very smilar in cocept.

The Masi's pictured don't quite seem ideal for commuting however since they aren't equipped with fenders or a rack, but then those things can be added as noted.
