I find a messenger bag way more comfortable, and I can carry way more stuff in it.

Hi,
why not just use a backpack? good ones even have a rain cap, so it would suite better as an all-weather bag as well.
no need for a ridicilous plastic bag :)

Marko, this is the winner: Hugs your macbook tight, provides six-sided padding without adding an unreasonable amount of bulk to your kit.

I commute with a macbook, but I need to find a case for it, as my Chrome bag does not have any protection against bumps. The Chrome bag is waterproof, not that you can submerge it, but a rainstorm on the bike won't make your stuff wet.

I have two Crumpler bags that I use when I commute. One of the laptop bags for the days I need to take my laptop to work and the twinsix messenger for most days. I absolutely love these bags!

Not only do they work extremely well, but they stand out from the other bags I see everyday. There are so many Timbuk2s around that I couldn't make myself get one and where I recently moved from, every person who wanted to look like a bike commuter was rocking a Chrome bag. I wanted something different and came across Crumpler a couple years ago and have never looked back. I've been doing my best to hook everyone I can on them ever since :)

I agree with a review from up above ... carry a plastic bag with you just in case and you will be fine. I used to commute through Boston with my bag and even on the most miserable days my laptop was fine as long as I gave it that extra layer.

I, too commute with a 13" MacBook. Great choice. The options I use -- currently a laptop-specific backpack and a laptop-specific padded cell inside a water-resistant pannier -- are also water resistant, and the only advice I can offer is to get a thick plastic bag. I like Aldi shopping bags for those freak rain storms, and always keep one with me.
