Bike Stand with Pump
by Chris CashbaughJust came across this great bike stand concept from the Netherlands on the Make site.

…a bikestand with airpump(Heklucht), type Ypenburg The product has been conceived for an art project in Ypenburg (a newly build neighbourhood in the Netherlands). Eight products will be placed in front of eight houses. The goal of the project is to stimulate an interaction between neighbours, while pumping up the tyres of their bicycles. The hurdle is made out of polished stainless steel. Because of this, it shines like a jewel on the grey pavement.
This would make commuting even more stress free knowing that there are bikes stand scattered though out the city that have bike pumps built into them. I’ll be surprised if this ever makes it into mass production but wouldn’t it be great.

It may also actually help prevent theft! I remember hearing that a common trick of bike thieves is to let the air out of a bikes tires with the hopes that the rider would then find a different way to get home. They then come back in the middle of the night a jack the bike.
This rack would solve that problem.
Is it Presta or Scraeder?
It’s like a piece of art. I likes shiny stuff.
One day all bike stands will be made this way.
