Growning Pains: We’ve moved

by Commute by Bike

As many of you have noticed, our site was starting to run pretty sluggish. It probably had to do with the fact that we’ve recently tripled the number of people visiting the site…

This, of course, is a good problem to have, but it means I finally had to pony up for a better host. We’ve now switched over and I would love you help.

Have a look around and let me know if you see anything that’s not working right or causing a problem. Just drop your note in the comments.

Thanks for your help as we continue to ride together.

    Congrats on the traffic!

Curious – was there a particular event that caused the jump in traffic, or…??

  2. Tim Grahl says:

Not any one event has caused the jump in traffic. Lots of people linking to us. Lots of people telling their friends. A WHOLE lot more people googling about commuting by bike (which is really encouraging).

So I can’t narrow it down to one event but our site keeps growing at a steady and fast rate.

I’m not at all surprised. This is a not only a good resource, but it’s also a place to meet like minded people who leave replys by visiting thier blogs.

  4. Anne says:

Congrats on the success. I am glad that so many people find your site as useful as I do.

  5. JMN says:

    I’m glad I found this site…much better than bikecommuters.com

anne, i agree! i love reading info, reviews, suggestions, etc on this site … and also do what i read! :)

tim, how many hits were you getting a day before Dreamhost couldn’t keep up anymore? i’m looking into hosting some sites, and obviously Dreamhost and some of the others are appealing for starters not looking to pay much, but at the same time they don’t compare to the faster/reliable ones. any other reasons you left Dreamhost? thanks!
