Stamina is a big thing for new commuters, I've had several coworkers start to commute by bike, but they're happy to stop, because it makes for a longer day, and to cycle in the rain seems a big no-no, which I can't understand, at all. Now I feel comfortable enough with the cars behind me, and I can tell the distance by the sound, and I'm more proficient at stretching my neck and looking behind me quickly.
