Fenders and flaps

by Richard Masoner

Just a quickie post for the weekend:

  • Plans for Coroplast election sign fenders have been floating around on the Internet for years. You take those leftover election signs, cut them to fender size and shape, then zip tie them to your bike. You should be able to figure it out by looking at the photos here.

  • Fenders
are better with mudflaps, and our pals the Bike Huggers in Seattle have a few Bike Hugger Buddy Flaps for sale.

Why fenders? Besides keeping spray and dirt off of the moving parts of your bike, they also help keep your feet and pants dry.

Have a great weekend, all!

I’ve already got fenders, so I’ll vouch for how great they are (especially with ice on the road!). The guy who came up with this idea should be given a medal or something! There’s nothing uglier than tons of campaign signs on the roads after the election (or before). Lets hear it for reusing gear for a useful purpose!
