		<description>If the tyre had burst, the tear would have been at 90 deg to this fault. It has to be a cut. Many years ago I had a similar cut right across the front tyre of my motorbike - luckily I spotted this and was able to change the tyre before it failed.</description>

		<description>My guess would be that whatever cut the tire dropped through the grated bridge after the bike ran over it.  I ran over a piece of metal one time that put a good slice up the side of my tire, though not quite as bad as this one.</description>
