Banjo Brothers Waterproof Trunk Review : Introduction

by Bike Shop Girl

Banjo Brothers Waterproof Trunk

The guys at Banjo Brothers are churning out new product every few months it seems.. The latest creation is what they call a “Waterproof Trunk” bag.. This massive bag has been able to hold extra clothes and my lunch with room to give, plus because it mounts under your saddle you don’t need any racks installed to carry most of your gear.

Details from the company

#01033 Waterproof Saddle trunk
MSRP : $44.99

400 cubic inches (12.5″ J x 7″H x 4.75D)
Waterproof w/ replaceable liner
Outer pocket for quick access to keys/money
Web loop for lashing gear like jackety
Interior Aluminum Strut stiff HDPE hull and 4 point strapping

Some finer details

This bag will require some seat post sticking out for the two velcro loops to secure well..  I’ve successfully installed it so far on road racing saddles and of course the Brooks you’ll see in our Introduction video.. The bag holds all the details that Banjo Brothers is known for, these guys make great bags to last for the people that may be a bit too rough on their product.

Off for more testing

We will put the bag through the test and be back with a full review.. If you have questions, size concerns or anything else you would like to be added to our testing please let me know!. Girly@BikeShopGirl.com

This bag looks sweet! This looks like the perfect size for longer rides when it’s wet out.

I’ve been looking for something this size for a little while and most bags I’ve seen this size aren’t waterproof. I’ve had my eye on a similar sized Velo Orange bag and Acorn bag, but I don’t think my bike really has that classic look.

Too bad it isn’t in stores yet. Looking forward to it in the spring.

I use a sling bag when I’m riding my Specialized Hardrock errand runner. When I park it and lock it up in front of the store I take everything with me that can be quick-released and isn’t locked to the bike with the cable lock. This includes the entire headlight and mount assembly and the saddle and seat stem.

My sling bag has a set of loops which I slip through the saddle rails and seat stem, so I can carry it all together. It’s still sort of cumbersome, however. This trunk looks like it would work much better: everything is all together already so it’s just a matter of flipping the seat release and going.

I, too, am looking forward to its arrival in the spring.

    BSG,

just following up on an email to remind you to post pics or a video of a sample of what the waterproof trunk can hold.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the review on the bag. I have had a very difficult time finding a good fitting bag for my commuter electric bike locally. I finally converted an old video camera bag and mounted it to my rear rack. So far it is working well. Take a look on my blog if you get a chance. http://www.ricksbikeblog.wordpress.com
    Thanks, Rick

I know the review of the Banjo Brothers Waterproof Truck was done a while ago but I was wondering if the width of the bike affected your pedaling.

That is did your legs hit the bag when pedaling?

Thanks. This appears to still be one of the view large waterproof bags that are on the market.
