Gary Fisher Commutes By Bike

by Ted Johnson

Gary FisherI’ve been in frequent contact with our publisher Josh Lipton while he’s at North American Handmade Bike Show (NAHBS) in Austin.

Yesterday he asked me about five times if I’d seen his Gary Fisher interview yet. I was thinking, Settle down, Josh. Don’t be so star struck.

Now I know Josh’s meaning wasn’t, Omigod Omigod! I just met Gary Fisher!

It was, You have got to see this!

Of course I knew of Gary Fisher bikes, but I’d never before seen nor heard Gary Fisher himself. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this.

Hopefully you’re being ironic. What a waste of time.

I have never had a chance to meet Gary Fisher. I ride a Supercaliber from 1990. (Yellow, Orange, Black). I always keep my ear to the ground when it comes to Gary Fisher. I have read many stories about Gary pioneering mountain biking etc. I got total respect for Gary when I rode his 1990 Supercaliber. This bike tought me about climbing and race geometry on mountain bikes. I bought the bike and still ride it. The reason I wrote this note is I heard a story about Gary when he was meeting with Trek bikes he rode his bike from the airport to the Trek factory. This helped secure the deal. Gary has an obvious commitment to his bikes and displays that fact in daily life.
    From one happy customer!
