That sounds like a mini-Cyclovia! Even though the route is shorter, it sounds like it still has the same effect of getting people out and about in a safe, car-free environment. Where in Venezuela are you?

I am currently living overseas (originally from NM) in Venezuela. The community in which I live is fairly progressive. It is one of the only cities in the country with bicycle lanes, and this past Sunday morning, the municipality started closing off a street to traffic that runs along the beach (Caribbean Sea). The street, though only about Km in length is closed to motor traffic, but open for bikes, roller bladers, walkers, etc. I saw parents with the children on the street which was good to see. I enjoyed riding the section a couple of times to hook up with the bike lanes to head over to the mountain bike trails not too far away.
Viva Tucson for leading the way in the USA!
