Lets see - a 60 pound bike, 20.4 miles to a depleated battery, 6 mph average on human power alone. On the other hand, take a 15 pound bike, a commuter level rider and the fuel should last 50 miles at which time eating and riding can take place to beyond 100 miles.

We add a 10 pound motor and a 20 pound battery and controller to a already heavy 30 pound bike with the result of a no sweet 15 miles then really sweet no fun at all 5 miles. The point is there is no point except that we do it because we can.

The first of anything is non-inspiring. Second and third generation things are better and fourth generation things become mainstream - then become common with licenses, registrations, laws, taxes and fees.

(chuckle)

The Der Wienerschnizel (as they were called in my youth) on Central Ave. in Phoenix was a hangout for a different kind of biker back then.

Luckily, I was riding a bobbed Triumph Bonneville at the time, so I could get a dawg there without too much risk!

Boy, and some people say my stream of consciousness posts get a little weird.... :-)

The only ebike I've tried drawing down to empty was a regen model from Sanyo. It's kind of fun emptying the battery then recharging it by pedaling.
