This bike sucks. I bought mine in March. The bottom bracket keeps moving around. It’s been to the shop 4 times. Breezer will not admit it is defective. They request the shop to adjust each time. Yesterday I had a total failure and a bad crash. Stay away from Breezer’s internal hub and adjustable bb!

Karen – I’ve had zero problems with the lighting. Sounds like an internal connection issue to me. Maybe you could try running wire in parallel to the factory wiring. If the problem persists, then it’s internal and not wiring related.

How’s the lighting? My husband and I both ride the Breezer Uptown 8 and both the head light and tail light operate inconsistently. We’re always having to “fiddle” with the wiring mid-ride. Taken to the bike shop w/ mediocre results.

Another option, which comes with most of your objections already overcome, is the excellent Kona Dr. Fine. All the good stuff (Alfine 8, hydraulic disks, carbon fork, ~25lbs) but you get to choose your own fenders, lights and racks. Got my 2011 for $525 on closeout when the 2012s were introduced and could not be happier.

Yeah, with a set of Trekking bars and a Brooks, that Breezer would be tough competition for The Roadley. Hey! It's even the right color for yours truly!

Ullr – That’s what I thought (about the bars) until I tried them. They are very useful. Not for long spells of mashing big gears, but for extended bursts of a little extra speed. THey are fun.

Those “Joe Bars”/TT-esque bars are superfluous without the forearm perches. Remove them and chuck them in the recycling bin (presumably they are aluminum).

This bike seems to approach the “all-roundness” of the frames and grouppo combinations Rivendell sells. Likely at a better price point though.

I’ve been riding a Finesse for the past six months. I believe the model has been discontinued, explaining why I got a demo unit for a good price. I removed the Joe bars, replaced the original saddle with a Serfas gel one, and put a trunk bag on the rack. Otherwise, it’s a great ride as-is.
