This is more of a stocking stuffer, but I love this little clip that velcros to my handlebar or stem. I just print out a map or cue sheet, clip it to my bars, and away I go. In questionable weather, I put my map or directions in a zip-lock bag first. http://www.jensonusa.com/!gnF1st3gXSA8NWaj8-dyNw!/Cue-Clip-MapCue-Sheet-Holder?utm_source=FRGL&utm_medium=organic&gclid=CIiMlYP7gbQCFcxAMgodoQsANQ

My favorite pannier is the Timbuktu Tandem. It is a saddlebag style, 2 bags attached that sling over a back rack. Waterproof. I used a pair of Axiom but they were much more of a pain to take on and off. I just sling the Tandem over the rack and use the long velcro strips to attach. It comes with a strap which I poo-pooed until one night my rack came unattached on one side and I couldn’t carry the bags on the rack. I was able to dig out the strap and carry it as a commuter bag over my shoulder. I use it everyday on my commute to work. It's held up well through two winters....

Section of inner tube used as a garter works well too if you need to attach a skirt clip
