Whoops, sorry I misunderstood that, Blues Cat. Thanks for the clarification. I agree, the size is a huge bonus on the bags. Props for the clever grocery store usage. Nice!

Actually, it wasn't a QMR hook insert that fell off, it was a little cover/plug that fits over the screw heads for the top rail hooks. There are two of them on each Roadmaster pannier. In your photo of the back of the Roadmaster, you see them as a pair of bright orange dots.

They are really nothing more than little cosmetic plugs, and none of the other three are loose. I bet a little sticky hair spray would work to fasten it down if I ever do discover another loose one. I'm thinking of contacting Vaude to see if they'll send me a replacement for the one that got away.

These Roadmasters are over 50% larger than my old panniers, which means I can get all of my commuting gear --- including the pump, tools, lights, and everything else --- into them without having a extra rack bag, seat bag or handlebar bag.

Since I can take everything with me when I lock my bike in a public place, and thus have less fear of accessories being pilfered off the bike, I've even taken the Roadmasters grocery shopping. Pop them off the rear rack in an instant, plop them onto the grocery cart, and you have the most stylish set of shopping bags going!
