Speaking as a card-carrying member (via my AARP card) of that Aging Environmental Establishment (I'm that Perfect Nature Conservancy Median Age of 62), I can say that all of you whipper snappers have a much more important problem to address: the lack of awareness of your surroundings because of all of your iGarbage and SmartA$$Phones.

Until y'all can tear yourselves away from those itty bitty screens, and get involved in what's happening here in the REAL world, the REAL world will continue to suffer.

Oh yeah, and Get offa my LAWN you inconsiderate little twerps!

I've only participated in one trail workday, and I liked it. But back then, I viewed it as building a trail for a handful of locals. I didn't view it as economic development for my city -- which is how I will view my next trail workday.

I'm also going to try to explore these trails more this summer with a bike, and not just with a shovel.

Nature conservation through a connection to cycling is cool. Working on local trails gives me a sense of belonging to the earth because I am caring for what I love (cycling!).

Great article!
