Got mine about a week ago. So far so good. Some say disks are overkill commuting. I bought this bike because of the disks. Stopping in the rain and snow are much better now. I am calling this bike the caddy. Like a caddy it is heavy, generaly driven by a more mature person, and comfortable over the long haul. The fenders are as good as my planet bike cascadias actually a little better. I am waiting for my front rack after I get it I will be able to balance my daily load and really compare it too my other bikes. It looks like without the fenders a really large tyre could fit in the front and the rear mabey a 45c. Later this summer I will probably try this out for camping and trail use.

What the dealer told me was the first shipment mostly went to dealer pre-orders. I paid for mine up front and got one from the first shipment. The next lot should be arriving soon. Probably not going to get a deal on one as they will sell out. It is a great bike heavy, but I like the fit and comfort. I have about 400 miles on the bike now with no issues. I have a Jandd rack on the front and puchased bags from Rivendale. Baggens bags these are a little big for everyday use but, they squash flat when empty and look great. No zippers to fail and so far water proof. Buy according to top tube length not seat tube or stand over.

Just curious Why'd you go with the Sojourn instead of the Trek 520 and if you had the option of finding a 2nd hand touring bike in good but not brilliant shape which would you prefer?

Disk brakes. They work better than canti's in the rain and snow. Another option I looked at was the REI safari but, I prefer drop bars, steel frames, and 700c wheels. I paid $995 not a lot of money compared to other bikes out there. The Trek Portland has disks and costs about $1550. Can't put a front rack on it or a big tyre. Sojourn is still the best bike for me. Stable and comfortable and stops on a dime.
