4.20.08 Built up the Pake frame. The build went well, the frame was very easy to prep and complete. Currently running 32c tires with Planet Bike Cascadia "hybrid size" fenders and there is still plenty of room left. The color looks better in person and really works with the black and silver parts. I tried to upload some pictures but it did not seem to work... My wife loves the bike and it was very comfortable to ride when I did the post build test ride. A great value.

Like to see the pictures the compleat build. Thier web site shows alot of spacers on the front. Probably safe but ugly. The rest of the bike looks great though well thought out much like a Surly crosscheck.Like the color and all the braze-ons.

I am looking to purchase this frame to build up soon... I would LOVE more information about how your wife has liked it over the past few months. I'm planning to use it on a long trip this summer and wondered if she rode it with panniers on the front or back ever. Glad to hear it felt great though!

My wife is loving her Pake! We just rode 186 miles in three days for the Trek Across Maine ride and everybody was commenting how they liked her bike. Women in particular liked the color. The fenders were awesome when it rained the last day. She has commuted to work with a rack and a pannier with no issues and the Bontrager Hard Case 32c tires have had no flats at all. She really likes the upright position because I didn't cut much off the steerer tube. No back, neck or wrist pain even after our long ride. If I didn't already have a Surly Cross Check I'd be getting one for myself.

Build pictures finally uploaded. I would take some with the rack installed, but it is easy to just imagine it. They install in about 2 minutes with no clearance issues.

neatmike: May I ask how tall your wife is and what frame size she is riding? I'm thinking about getting a Pake but it's always been difficult for me getting a "man's" bike to fit comfortably. Even though I'm not short (5'8") it's always been a struggle. I don't quite have the funds to get a custom bike, though. Thanks.

I purchased this bike in Dec. 08 and have used it for regular road riding, loaded touring, and now cyclocross. I have to say that the tubing is stiff enough for a burly tour, but the wheel base is not as long as a long haul trucker. I have done several tours of several hundred miles and it's more than adequate for me. Takes the weight just fine (front and rear panniers with tent stove etc.) The low BB and slack head tube make it comfortable, but not as stable as a real touring bike with a longer wheel base. When I built it up for cyclocross, I was amazed at how fun it was. That's the bike I'm racing on this season and it has truly found it's calling. Overall ride quality: 9 Weight: 6.5 Value:10
