So, I've been thinking that a smart phoneone with GPS, phone, email, camera and video camerais just about the ideal device to have along on a tour.

In other words, it has all the things you could want along (and maybe some you don't) in one compact package.

The problem is how to keep it charged when away from power outlets for multiple days. I'd rather not carry a solar panel and small batteryso I'm wondering if there's a way to charge them off of a dyno-hub

Anybody know if that's possible?

There are a couple of devises that I've seen for charging a smart phone off of a dynamo hub. The Plug by Tout Terrain looks like a very sharp yet simple devise. Biologic is working on their 2nd generation iPhone case which will charge the iPhone from a Dynamo.

We're looking to offer these products and other related at the site we will be launching shortly and you can preview now, BikeTechShop.com.

Have Schmidt SON 28 least resistance. Biologic Reecharge 1600 ma Battery from The Bike Tech Shop works great. Controller Cable from dyno to the battery and USB cable from the battery to the device. Works with standard USB compatible 5v 1amp. Couple of things, you must press the in charge button when connected to the battery or it will damage the battery. If you press the outbound charge button, the battery will discharge whether connected to a device or not. It can technically only charge one device at a time. I also have Busch + Muller front and rear lights connected to the dyno.
